PROJECT – Health for Ngabang
SNCF MISSION IN KALIMANTAN

SNCF through the invitation of Girls’ Brigade has joined in partnership with Toa Payoh Methodist Church and an Indonesian Christian group called MIKA to do a project in Ngabang, Kalimantan.

The 3 groups have raised fund to build a Christian school called Makedonia. The purpose is to provide a model Christian school in Ngabang. The school can take up to 800 students and house 200 students in its dormitories for students who live far away. Currently, there are about 80 students who do not pay school fees as they cannot afford it.

In January 17-21, 2003 a team, called ChannelsOnly consisting of 4 SNCF members, took a trip to set up a clinic within the school compound. Singapore International Foundation through its Overseas Volunteer Scheme funded the clinic setup. Visiting doctors will use the clinic to provide free service for students and villagers. The nearest hospital is about 3 hours drive away.

SNCF role is to help establish a primary health programme for the students and villagers in Ngabang. A daunting task, perhaps but surely not mission impossible.

SNCF in partnership with Philippines NCF is planning for the June trip. The objectives for the trip are to do 1) student healthworker education 2) zero-waste management
The trip dates are June 21-24 and September 6-8.
