| PACEA NCF Staff Training, March 4-8th 2003 I was very blessed and thankful to God for providing this timely and essential NCF staff training which was held in Hong Kong at a Christian retreat centre called Tao Fong Shan. The last Staff Worker Training was held in Singapore in 1987, 16 years ago. If there was a theme for this training, it would have been called, “Be still, and listen to Me before you do anything”. Throughout the five days together, we were all taught to be still before God. We were reminded the importance of wasting time with the Father, soaking in His presence and resting in Him. Sounds simple huh? But coming from the fast pace life in Singapore, it took me almost three days before I could be still before God. It was no different for those who came from the rest of the Asian countries. Meeting nurses from the region has always left me with a lasting impression and never failed to inspire me to believe why God called me into the Nursing Profession in the first place. This training gave the NCF staff a stronger sense of bond. We have committed ourselves to share resources, to communicate more frequently and to work on one project together in order to build God’s ministry towards strengthening the Nursing Community within our countries. This is a call from God to work together, to serve one another, to serve our Living God. This call is not only for Staff Workers or NCF volunteers. This calling demands that Christian nurses in Singapore should also meet frequently as Scripture instructs us to in Heb 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – all the more as you see the Day approaching” If it is possible for five countries to meet together to spur one another to do the good works that God has prepared us to participate in, it is possible for us here in Singapore to meet likewise. It is possible for us to meet our fellow Christian who may be only one department / clinic away, or just in the next ward. God has called us into the Nursing Profession and Community to serve Him together, and to serve Him in His strength. We can no longer do it on our own. God has spoken today. If you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. Let us hear and obey Him. Let us gather wherever we are, to seek His will and to spur one another to serve Him together. It is time to commit our life to serve Him together according to His way. Joanna
